After battling a rat infestation with little luck, I came across this trap and decided to give it a try. This works way better than a conventional spring trap. I tried the spring trap and when it tripped, my wife happened to be looking out the kitchen window and saw a big Norway rat flying 10 feet through the air. More of a joy ride than a death trap! I was worried about just leaving poison laying around. I don't want to kill other animals besides the rats, and I was also worried the rats would drag the poison off somewhere where even a child might get a hold of it. So I took the T-Rex trap and put it inside a bait station that also had poison inside, the kind that goes over pins so it can't be dragged away from the trap. Of course, they never get a chance to try the poison, it mostly just attracts them along with the peanut butter I put in the T-Rex trap. This T-Rex trap gets them everytime! Dead. Instantly. Except maybe one rat that stepped on the trip plate and it still snagged him by the shoulder. The rat was dead when I found it anyway. I have now killed six rats with my combo bait station / T-Rex trap and apparently not any "non-target" animals like cats and squirrels. I am real happy with this trap. You will be, too!

After 2 years of having stinkbugs EVERYWHERE inside & outside at our home and invading our camper, we knew we didn't want to go through that again. After hearing from several people and knowing this is what our Ehrlich guy uses, we decided to get some ourselves. My husband sprayed EVERYWHERE - along the gutters, roofline, doorways, windows, you name it. Got this to combat a recent invasion of flies and wolf spiders.



The convenient tennis racket shape allows for tremendous midair zaps, some of which will leave a hapless fly caught between the wires of the zapper. Some will get a face full of sparks and be tossed to ground, twitch a little, then finally expire. Generally, house flies are no match for this zapper.



Wolf spiders are a bit more tenacious, but I found laying the mesh flat atop them and letting the sparks arc over them for a few solid seconds led to their demise.



Cockroaches, however, are a different story. I laid this thing against one for 10 full seconds, and when I finally relented, IT STILL MOVED. Perhaps there should be a separate cockroach or "turbo" setting for particularly tenacious prey.



The device has two switches which must be depressed simultaneously to activate the electric current, HOWEVER, with some use, one of the switches has developed a tendency to stick, which increases the risk that you may zap yourself if you happen to be holding the other switch down and aren't keeping an eye on the red LED (voice of experience).

We have a serious chipmunk issue. Yes they're cute - they are also moving into the walls of my house. I've tried a variety of other methods - traps, poisons, pellet rifles - you name it. None of these seemed to make a substantial difference.



I've had the zapper for four days. Placed it in a popular area for the chipmunks. Results: 5 chipmunks in 4 days when baited with dry dog food. Disposal is easy. Dog food is cheap and not messy. Probably would have had better results if I checked it more often.



I'm not a big fan of killing things - until I start worrying about my house bursting into flame because of chewed wiring. This method seems to be as humane as possible - no sign of struggling, etc - looks like a clean quick kill.



Just bought a second one for my barn. More of a mouse issue there - we'll see how it does.

It doesn't say any where and you can't see it in the picture, but this thing has a small night light bulb in it and needs to be plugged into the wall. Just got this thing so I can't comment on whether it works, but just wanted to let buyers know that is is electronic and needs an outlet.

Based on previous reviews, I opted to drill about 15 small holes in the top and sides to hopefully avoid the mouse dying from lack of oxygen. I then followed the peanut butter directions and we caught a mouse within 10 minutes!! We don't actually know if there are more mice, so we're patiently waiting with all 4 traps set, but I have to say, if you have mice - this product will catch them - no doubt about it!!!

I'm a 53 year old female that grew up in the counrty and have always had to deal with mice coming in, especially when the weather starts cooling...

I ordered 3 of these traps, and am VERY happy with them!!!

I have a few Chihuahuas, and don't have to worry that they would get hurt with this trap!!!

You never have to touch the mouse and I feel it's a more humane way to get rid of them... with the older traps, I've caught mice by the legs, or it was still barely alive, and that bothered me.... but with these, it kills them every time, and then you can just open the top and turn it upside down and drop the mouse out... it's great that the light flashes green to let you know that you've caught a mouse. I don't think I'd ever go back to the old kinds of traps... ever!!!

4 AA batteries, some peanut butter, and you're ready to get rid of the mice!!!

I highly recommend this mouse trap!

I have have this trap for several months and finally started using it. I have had it out 3 days and downed 4 mice. I am after rats but they will come. This is outside and doing fine. I bring it inside if it is going to rain. I use a small piece of paper with peanut butter in the back and works great.

As fall moved in this year here in New England, I discovered that field mice wanted to set up housekeeping in my kitchen. My nice young landlord came stuffed a few gaps full of steel wool and set a couple of those traditional wooden mouse traps for me. Worked like a charm. I had barely turned out the lights when the traps went off and started clattering across the kitchen floor. Fair enough - but then there were more mice. The nice young landlord showed me how to reload the traps after discarding the mouse, which of course requires you to handle nasty wires covered in mouse guts. After struggling for about 3 hours and setting exactly no traps - my hands are not strong enough anymore - I came to Amazon to find something that I could easily set, that would in fact catch mice and that would not require me to touch the results. The d-CON 00027 Ultra Set Covered Mouse Trap fits the bill! This trap is really easy to load, even for my older hands. You don't end up with the thing snapping your fingers. My cat brings her prey into the house unharmed, so I bought this mouse trap. She deposited a mouse in my bedroom today, so I used the trap for the first time, unbaited. It seemed rather flimsy, but I set up the trap along a baseboard and went out for a couple of hours. When I returned the mouse was sitting in the trap. Might be beginner's luck but it's good enough for me, and I'm sure the mouse was happy it worked, too.

These do a great job of catching moths in my closet, but you have to assemble them properly. The traps come with little lure tabs -- when you're ready to place the trap, open a lure envelope and find the small lure square inside. Stick the lure square to the adhesive inside the trap. It's the lure that the moths find irresistible, and then they get stuck to the adhesive. My traps generally get full in about 2 months, and then I have to replace them.

Squirrels, too! by Heuchera
This past year our yard was overrun with chipmunks and voles and we had tunnels everywhere. Our intent was to pare down the population in a humane manner. We were hesitant to use poisoned bait, and the sticky traps were much too cruel.



After reading the many reviews on this site we decided to order the larger Ultra Rat Zapper in hopes that it would do its job quickly and efficiently.



The first evening we set the trap on our porch where we keep bird seed, and we caught quite a few mice over the course of the next few evenings. They had been running around in our ceilings, so the resulting silence was most welcome.



During the day we placed it outside hoping to catch some chipmunks. We put the unit far inside a plastic container that we laid on its side to shelter the unit from moisture. However, the weather turned cooler and the little critters decided to hunker down in their warm burrows instead.



It seems the lure of peanuts was just too much for our squirrels, and we were astonished to find one caught in the unit. Over the course of several days this unit dispensed with five squirrels. I simply could not believe it was this powerful. While I really do like squirrels, we would often find up to a dozen in our yard wolfing down every bit of seed that I put out.



Now and then a squirrel would venture in, get his toes toasted a little and leave in quite a hurry. At that point no squirrels would come near the Zapper. Then I would take it out and fill the container with peanuts until the squirrels became comfortable going inside again.



After a day or two I would place the Zapper inside its contain again and bag another one or two.



For the time being I will use the Zapper to keep our squirrel population down to a manageable size and will also use it on our porch, in the garage and also the basement of our home to get rid of mice.



If you plan to use it inside where children or small pets might touch it, I would highly recommend that you place it inside a plastic container such as a shoebox and drill a hole just large enough for a mouse to enter. This company also sells similar containers, as well, so either will do.



We will try again in the spring to see if we can capture some chipmunks and voles, but in the meantime the Zapper has more than earned its keep.



We highly recommend the Rat Zapper Ultra if you need a quick and humane way to rid your home and yard of varmints.

I bought the trap to deal with our one mouse that had gotten into the house when our AC was installed. As soon as I got it, I took it out of the box, dropped a couple of kernels of cheese popcorn in it and put it out. Several hours later the popcorn was gone and no mouse was trapped.



I decided to read the instructions (something I am wont to do).



I found that you don't put the stuff in the trap, you put it in the space between the door you used to let your mouse out. In fact, its supposed to act like a second door: you put a cracker in there that takes up that exact space and the mouse needs to chew through it when you pull up the other door.



I thought that putting a cracker with peanut butter in there, as the instructions suggested would be super messy. So, instead I used a melba toast with a drop of sesame oil. Within 6 hours I had my mouse.



I give this four stars, not five, for two reasons. One: the tail got caught in the door. Sure, the mouse was fine but still. Second, the cracker forming the second door trick didn't work with the melba toast. Guess you need something square like a salteen. Other than that, though, if you've got a sealed up house like mine and aren't afraid of the mouse getting back in, this is a nice way to get 'em.

I am giving the Rat Zapper (Infrared Model) a conditional five star rating but with reservation - which I will explain below... I purchased the Rat Zapper (along with the Rat Tale) a few months ago to use indoors because we had seen a mouse in the house and past poor experiences with conventional mouse traps. After receiving it, I baited it with cashews and turned it on. (I had rinsed the salt off of the cashews and let them dry prior to putting them in the zapper.) The Zapper worked well as we soon caught the mouse. I left it baited and turned on for a few more weeks but caught no additional mice so I turned it off during the summer. Recently we noticed another mouse so I baited, set and turned the Rat Zapper on again. Within 3 minutes we heard the zapper zap, checked it and sure enough it had a dead mouse in it. I dumped the mouse and turned the trap back on. The next day - another dead mouse. In the following few days it zapped 2 more mice. Finally one day I smelled something so not pleasant. I wondered if it could be a dead mouse in the zapper. I checked and sure enough there was a dead (and obviously decomposing) mouse in it but the red eyes of the Rat Tale were not flashing. I presumed the batteries had died. I soon bought more batteries for it but before installing them I checked by just turning the zapper on again and from that, it appears that the batteries are still good but I'm not positive about that. Rather than installing the new batteries and tossing out the old (and possibly still good) ones I found the website of the Rat Zapper manufacturer and last night I wrote an email to them explaining the problem of the lights not flashing after it had a dead mouse in it and asked for their guidance and asking if the zapper could be malfunctioning or if in fact the batteries could be too weak for it to operate properly. Well it's nearly 24 hours later and I've yet to receive a reply to my email. I suppose today being Columbus Day it's possible that the business was not open. Plus it's possible they require more than 1 day to reply to email questions. The conditional 5 star rating I have initially given the Rat Zapper is based on our experience thus far. It has worked well during the limited amount of time it has been in use - with the exception of our most recent experience with it when it zapped a mouse but the flashing lights failed to activate to notify us of a dead mouse in the trap. Depending on whether the aforementioned light flashing failure is a defect of this device or a battery problem, and depending on what the manufacturer may do to help alleviate any such defect or replace the Rat Zapper in the case of a malfunction or failure, my future follow-up to this rating and review will reflect any change in my opinion.



The one con about this Rat Zapper that I can report about to date is that there is no easy way to clean the chamber where the mouse/rat is zapped and ultimately remains until removed by the owner. It would have been a really nice feature if the bottom was removable for easy cleaning or had a removable tray or something to make it easier to clean. I will follow-up on my report of this zapper.

This is a WONDERFUL product. It works tremendously well. Do not follow the advice on the box to use peanut butter as the bait. Use bread crumbs or cookie crumbs, and make sure to leave some around the entrance to the trap as well. The electric shock instantly kills the mice. While not as humane as no-kill traps, you don't have to peel a suffocated mouse of a glue trap, or scrap a mouse with a broken neck of a traditional mouse trap. Buy it. Use it. Be mouse free.

I used a number of traps before I tried this one. The electric zappers were cool but expensive. The sonic repllers simply didn't work at all. These traps worked! They are cheap and reliable, especially when baited with peanut butter or hard boiled eggs. Highly recommended.
